Process-related activities

These are the activities that help us improve
efficiency at our manufacturing facilities:

The R&D system supports key manufacturing processes such as steelmaking, rotary furnaces, piercing, rolling, and heat treatment. It also implements APC (Advanced Process Control) systems that control key machinery. Furthermore, it enhances threading control through new optical techniques (ADRIS) and develops advanced NDT (non-destructive testing) technologies like ARGUS and ECTIS.

Data science and AI are increasingly used to optimize processes, while best practices for Super13Chromium alloys are continually developed across global facilities.

As a result of Tenaris's ongoing investment in
R&D through its Product Development Portfolio

  • Approximately 65% in tons of OCTG sales and 40% of Line Pipe sales now come from proprietary products developed by the company’s global Technology team.

  • Regarding process innovation, some of the achievements include Tenaris proprietary PYXIS Electronics together with the Virtual NDT Software CERBERUS, installed in most of the NDT finishing lines worldwide in Tenaris, reaching more than 50 PYXIS units running.

  • This solution enhances inspection reliability, enabling unique features like the full-length inspection creating a competitive advantage and differentiation.
